

to think. to create. to build the utopia.

  WIP - this is final until it’s not

i work from the threshold. as a metaphor, but also as the material ground on which making happens at all. the threshold is where the body becomes most legible as a political fact, where the question of who crosses, who remains, who is seen is most acute. it is also where form is most unstable, where the sign has not yet fixed its meaning, where beauty is not decorative but constitutive. this is where i locate my practice. this is where the separation between beauty, survival, and resistance becomes structurally impossible.art is beauty. art is survival. art is activism. a description of what making felt like in the time of multiple genocides. the three were already there, already inseparable in my mind. my resistance through creation. a reinvention of the world and of the self in the process.

my practice is intuitive the way the body is intuitive. it knows before it explains.

i fall in love many times a week, with people, with ideas, with forms, with things. these are my primary sources. obsessions that pull me toward my own limits, always at the edge of the unrealistic, always tipping into the surreal.

the personal is the political is the aesthetic. the lived condition of making something at the threshold, where what you carry in your body is already an archive, where what you make is already a wager on another world.
the beautiful thing carries the wound without being reducible to it. to make something that refuses full legibility, that insists on its own density, is already a decolonial act, already a formal one. the refusal is the form. the form is the refusal. and the new world is not arrived at from a distance. it is performed into existence through the act of creation itself. each piece not a description of utopia but a fragment of it, instantiated. beauty as prefigurative practice. the wager that another world is not only necessary but already, partially, here.

i watch how people move through and inhabit space. how they become, collectively, something that exceeds what was expected of them. through this work i try to undo the imaginaries we inherited. to make room for something that cannot yet be fully named but can be felt, worn, archived, spoken.

what i make is rooted in a belief, yes normative, that art serves as a vehicle for revolt and for thought. politics, pop culture, spirituality, lived experience woven together. each series, each work, a site of introspection and rebellion simultaneously. each one an attempt at auto-ethnography. each one a reinvention of the world and of the self.

resistance, remembrance, and beauty, all at once.
